Burgers and beer go hand in hand. This combination is a classic combo that could give even peanut butter and jelly a run for its money. Here at BBC, we want you to enjoy your burger to its maximum potential. When pairing a beer with your food, you want to make sure it either contrasts or complements the flavors of the beer and also helps cleanse between bites. You don’t want to choose a beer that overpowers the flavors in your delicious burger. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of the best beers to pair with your burger of choice based on flavor profile.
Light lagers: These are pretty versatile. Lagers are crisp and refreshing without being too bitter or hoppy. Bud Light is probably the most popular example of this kind of beer we can give, although we do think you deserve better ;). Since this is such a classic and light in flavor, we recommend pairing it with a timeless and simple burger such as our All American, Boston or Ranch burger.
Wheat beers: Another type of beer that is mild in flavor, but this one is very smooth. This one is super versatile but it is also the perfect pairing to balance out a spicy bite. Try matching this one up with our Buffalo or Inferno burger.
IPAs: India Pale Ales for long. IPAs are known for their hoppy taste and can tend to be on the bitter side. However, with all of the new brews and different IPAs out there, it’s hard to put all of their flavor profiles into a box. We think that the hoppiness from IPAs would balance out well against one of our extra fatty burgers. Try having an IPA with The Jumbo, The WTF or the Artery Clogger.
Ciders: The go-to option for our GF folks out there. Cider is a great alternative to beer and is the perfect crisp sip. The notes of apple in cider pair well with creamy cheeses like the goat cheese that we put on the Sophie. Ciders also complement blue cheese flavors as well so if you like a little spice, try pairing it with our Buffalo Burger!
Dark lagers: Made with roasted malts, dark lagers can tend to have a rather nutty flavor. They may have a hint of sweetness, though it’s not overpowering. Lucky for you, dark lagers tend to pair well with most hearty foods so pretty much any of our burgers will be a good match. If you really want our two cents though, go for the Kitchen Sink or Killer Bee.
OK, now that you are a beer connoisseur and can impress all of your friends with your extensive brew knowledge, you’re also fully prepped for your next trip to BBC.
